Not Exactly Buckingham

This is the signage for The Dendy Cinema which is part of the Palace Cinema Group in Church Street Brighton.  Pehaps we should call it the "Y" as the "Dend" seems to have been replaced by cobwebs. Sad really.

  1. Mmm ... here in Sydney, Palace and Dendy are two separate cinema chains. They are both Indies with maybe Dendy just that smidge more commercial. Hard to tell. I prefer Palace as they have two cinemas less than 10 minutes away - in different directions. Sadly to say though, there is bugger-all on at the moment. Never rains but it pours, I reggon ...

  2. Is it still in use, seems odd that they have just let the signage go to webs if it's still up and running, great 'sign if the times' image Joe.

  3. Sad, I agree. Either they don't care or hard times. But your capture of it is lovely... love the shadows.
    Have a happy day.

  4. Julie - I agree. Unless your into marvel comics and action heroes there's not much showing. Now let's see "Captain America" or "Planet of the Apes". Think I'll play scrabble.

  5. Perth - it is a popular cinema still in use. I was so surprised to see it in such a state. @palacemelbourne has tweeted me saying they will get out their feather duster. Hope it gets the maintenance we regular patrons deserve.

Thanks to all for your opinions.
