Darkest Night Winter Solstice Bonfire

Hi V's ... Yesterday evening Collingwood Children's Farm celebrated the Winter Solstice and the darkest night with fire dancing and one enormous bonfire!  The Stable Paddock adjacent to the Yarra River was all a glow.  A children's lantern parade preceded the fire dancing.  Another date to add to your Melbourne annual experience calendar.  Will post more images over the coming weeks ... Cheers J.

  5. What a great winter solstice image Joe, full of mystery and shadows. I should imagine there would be torches and dancing around Stonehenge also for the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere. Supposed to be a magical time I think.

  6. In opposite seasons, this fire seems a wonderful way to welcome the solstice, the winter one! Love the profile in silhouette.
