Fireworks at the Mellieha Village Feast, "Il-Vitorja"

Boom!  On our second night in Mellieha the night sky exploded with colour.  We flattered ourselves suggesting that our arrival did not warrant such ceremony knowing that the fireworks were a highlight in the village annual festival.  What a show!!  There were two displays of fireworks synchronised to music and it seemed that each lasted for an hour.  We have always wanted to master taking photographs of fireworks and without a tripod thought it would be a challenge.  Fortunately Jupiter and Mars aligned and there were a number of factors in our favour; the length of the show provided plenty of opportunity to adjust the camera settings, a high balcony provided the perfect vantage point, a wide ledge provided a makeshift tripod and a steady hand to angle the camera all helped.  We managed to capture a whole series of pleasing shots.  This is our favourite.  Others may appear from time to time.  For those interested in the camera settings they were Aperture f/14,  Shutter Speed 10 seconds, ISO-100, focal length 27mm.  Wonder whether there were fireworks to commemorate our departure.
