PLAY ME, I'M YOURS - MELBOURNE

One of Melbourne Snaps Facebook friends messaged us last week and let us know that brightly painted pianos had sprung up in the streets of Melbourne (thanks for the tip David).  What a brilliant concept.  Every piano we visited yesterday was being played.  From small children  to teenagers, adults and some very accomplished pianists all were engaged in conversation, smiling and even spontaneously breaking out into song.  "Play me I'm Yours" is an interactive artwork created by Luke Jeram which has been touring internationally since 2008. The Melbourne display was presented by Art Centre Melbourne.  The display has been in the streets of Melbourne from 9 January 2014 with the last day being Monday 27 January 2014. So if you fancy tickling the ivories best be quick.  Encore J. Visit Street Pianos for more information including publicly uploaded videos.

  1. What I don't understand about these pianos is who keeps them tuned? And how are they protected from the elements?

  2. This interactive exhibit is great. I saw images coming from London a couple of years ago.

  3. What a great fun concept ... I'm sure a tinkle-on-the-ivories brought much joy to this little group.

  4. I don't think I've got time to get there - which is probably just as well for Melbourne!
