A Question for an Optometrist

Hi V ... There are 10 Pelicans in this Scoop.  Ten Pelicans have twenty eyes between them.  Eight of the ten pelicans are watching me but only with one eye.  What do these eight pelicans see with their other eye?  Are they able to see two completely separate, distinct images at once, one of me and one of the rocks, or do they shut down one eye so they can just look at me?  There is no doubt they can see me. Puzzled J.

  1. Hi Joe,

First of all, that's a fascinating photograph!

Secondly, I have no idea about how they see, whether it's two separate images, or one? Interesting point..

  2. Best pelican image ever, that's a lot of beady eyes checking you out Joe and a question only a pelican can answer!!

  4. Hi J, This reminds me of the math problems with the trains etc! I never could figure those out and I"m not sure about pelican eyes either. I DO love your shot though.
    Cheers

  5. Great capture Joe! I especially like the "frilly" appearance of their feathers.

  7. Great image. I have wondered about the "how do birds see?" too...
