Today, the eleventh day in the eleventh month, is Remembrance Day, a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I to remember the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty. A service was held at the Shrine of Remembrance commencing at 11 am. At precisely this time the sun shines through an aperture in the ceiling of the Sanctuary of the Shrine and falls on the Stone of Remembrance over the word "Love" in the phrase "Greater Love Hath No Man. A minutes silence is observed. The red poppy is one of the world's most recognised memorial symbols for soldiers who have died in conflict. Ode of Remembrance: -
"They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them."
"They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning.
We will remember them."
Given that Spain does not celebrate this day, I find it interesting to see the posts in which you reflect it.
