Ottoman Empire on Princes Pier

Hey V ... Today was the inaugural Piers Festival, a celebration of migration at Station Pier
and Princes Pier in Port Melbourne.  It also celebrates the recent refurbishment of Princes Pier after
years of neglect.  This image is two of the members of the Ottoman Mehter Band a powerful offering
of vocals and drums from Melbourne's Turkish community ... Cheers J.

  1. They look very serious Joe. If the music was as colourful and dramatic as the visual, it would have been a fabulous event.

  2. What a coincidence... I am currently reading a mystery that takes place in the old Ottoman Empire, "An Evil Eye". It is great fun!

  3. Sorry Joe, I just saw your question about the firework photos..because the weather looked a bit dodgy I left my Pentax at home and took in the Lumix Panasonic FZ100, it's a brilliant little lightweight camera with a 24 X zoom, so easy to throw in my handbag that I take it everywhere with me these days and to be honest I set it up on the tripod and put it on automatic focus setting and went from there.
