RMS Titanic In Ballarat!

Dear Visitors ... Took a trip to Ballarat yesterday.  Ballarat is a Victorian Town on a north westerly bearing, 102 kilometres from Melbourne.  The sky was clear and a light breeze prevailed. There were no sign of icebergs. However what we did spy, close to the centre of town, was a Rotunda which we discovered was constructed to commemorate the bandsmen of the RMS Titanic! It was topped by a wind vane in the shape of the famous White Star Liner! What drew us to the Rotunda was a group of ladies dressed in period costume.  They kindly allowed us to photograph them explaining they meet regularly to discuss fashion.  As the centenary of the sinking of the ill-fated Titanic was nigh the group decided to meet in the Rotunda complete with a bounty of tea and cakes.  They brought smiles to our visit to Ballarat and for that we thank them.
The sinking of the RMS Titanic occurred on the night of 14 April through to the morning of 15 April 1912, 100 years ago today. Linking to Life In Pictures.

  1. What a gorgeous and generous group they are. And what better way to commemorate one of the more famous sinkings of the modern era. Love the sepia ... puts me right in the mood.
