Byron Bay - Beach Circles

Hi V ... We were taking an early walk on the beach. The tide was out.  The sea was calm.  In the distance a man stood peering along a pole pointed at the sun.  Then, with precision, with a rake like tool, a single tong on one side, several on the other, he made a mark in the sand and proceeded to walk backwards in an ever widening circle dragging his implement behind him. This was his art, his ode to the sun, the sand and the sea ... J.

  4. Wow! Not only an impressive photo, but a phenomenal achievement in the sand! Imagine the sense of proportion he must have making those exactly drawn concentric circles!

  5. I am mesmerized by this one. First, the artist walking in the sand, creating for his own enjoyment. You, there to witness the creation of art which will soon be swept away by the changing tides.

    Great capture!

  7. Joe, I've gone back to view your whole series about Byron Bay. What a treat ! This particular photo is amazing. The perfection this man reaches freehand (so to speak) is just stunning.

  9. Beautiful, Joe. Reminds me of Peter Donelly's art. Have you seen it? Look at my "other" blog:
