Time Traveller

It holds on still this mighty fig with twists that grip the earth.  
It repels the glare this ancient tree its leaves diffuse the sun.
It invites a gaze, requests a presence, commands a mind unswerving. 
And there it is a face, a smile, a rustling laugh is heard in filtered light. 
It shelters pasts this mighty tree a time of eyes that sparkle. 
A gust of wind, a creaking bow, I nod and then move on.
