Three encores and a standing ovation! A triumph! Last night Kate Ceberano thrilled a lucky few with her soulful voice in an intimate setting in the main dining room at Waterfront Restaurant in Port Melbourne. Surrounded by almost 360 degree views of the bay the audience only had eyes for Kate as she sang, sparkled, chatted and joked through an hour and a half of pure entertainment. She inhabited her classics such as "Passionate Kissing" and "Bedroom Eyes" and delivered moving covers including an unforgettable rendition of "Love Don't Live Here Anymore". It wasn't long before a powerful delivery of Fleetwood Mac numbers had many of the audience on the dance floor. It was a pleasure to see and hear such a polished performer not as a distant speck amongst thousands in a huge arena but up close and personal in a dining setting. Not only her voice was on the stage last night but her charm, charisma and authenticity was visible too. Kate was real and left the audience wanting more.
It would be remiss not to praise the Waterfront Restaurant. After a minor issue with our booking we were directed to an ample, round table, seated in comfortable chairs and introduced to Nick the third best water in Melbourne. We were assured he ranked #3 purely because #1 had died and #2 had not yet been born. Nicked lived up to his introduction. The service was impeccable and the three course menu with choices including oysters, lobster and prawn delights, ocean trout, moreton bay bugs, steaks, lamb cutlets and a selection of decadent deserts had something for every taste bud. As the crowd left the management and waiting staff formed a line to say goodbye!
We left with the songs of Kate in our head and feeling like we were appreciated guests. Bravo!
